The Writing Woods
Where ideas wander and stories grow.
Come wander awhile. The Writing Woods is a creative space where words become a way to imagine, explore, connect, and grow. Through playful creative writing and thoughtful reflection, I create workshops and experiences that invite people of all ages to experiment with ideas, tell stories, notice the world around them, and discover something about themselves along the way. You don’t need to consider yourself a writer. You just need a little curiosity and a willingness to see where the words take you.
Exploring The Writing Woods
Schools & Groups
Creative, engaging programs for schools, libraries, community groups, senior communities, and other organizations. Experiences can be designed around your group’s age, interests, and goals.
Kids & Teens
Writing doesn’t have to feel like another assignment. Playful prompts, stories, imagination, and unexpected activities give young people space to experiment, express themselves, and discover that writing can actually be fun.
Adults
Sometimes writing gives us a reason to slow down, notice what we’re thinking, remember what’s important, or simply make something. Workshops offer approachable ways to explore creativity and reflection—no writing experience required.
Explore the research behind The Writing Woods
More than words on a page
Research has connected expressive and creative writing practices with benefits related to emotional expression, self-reflection, well-being, and meaning-making. For young people, creative writing can also provide opportunities to practice communication, perspective-taking, confidence, and self-expression.
At The Writing Woods, those benefits aren’t assignments. They happen naturally while we’re busy imagining, noticing, creating, and having fun writing.
What could we explore together?
Programs combine thoughtfully chosen readings, conversation, creative activities, and approachable writing invitations. They can be adapted for different ages, settings, themes, and goals—and participants never need to arrive thinking of themselves as writers.

The person behind
The Writing Woods
Hi, I’m Elizabeth—a writer, educator, and lifelong believer in the power of creativity.
My own path has taken me through many kinds of writing, from creative writing and journaling to poetry and life writing, and I’m especially interested in what happens when we stop worrying about whether our writing is “good” and start paying attention to what the process itself can offer us.
I created The Writing Woods to make those kinds of experiences approachable, meaningful, and—most importantly—enjoyable for people of all ages.
